A luxury travel agency opens a new store

A luxury agency has opened its third travel boutique in the north of Scotland as part of its growth plans.

Murray Travel unveiled its new premises on Forres High Street, having recently been named Luxury Travel Agency of the Year at the TTG Luxury Travel Awards.

The move follows last year’s takeover of Alba Travel and Beaver Travel, which came with a commitment to maintain a presence in Forres and Elgin. The company’s Elgin branch opened earlier this year.

Manager Scott Murray, who grew up in Forres and lives nearby in Nairn, said he was delighted to bring high quality travel services to the town of Moray.

He said, “The opening of our new store in Forres is the culmination of a year of hard work and determination to provide the people of Forres with high quality travel services.

“When we took over Alba Travel and Beaver Travel last year, we promised to stay engaged with the local Forres community – and now that we’ve found the perfect premises, we’re thrilled to be back in action. For me, going back to work in the city where I grew up is a great feeling.

“It’s important to us that our customers feel comfortable when making travel arrangements, so we’re delighted they’ll see many familiar faces when visiting our new store. Our Travel Consultants are passionate about finding vacationers the trip of a lifetime and look forward to getting back to working with locals.

Murray Travel’s Forres team will work in-store and remotely to offer customers “true flexibility when planning their trips”.

The shop “maintains the same informal and relaxed atmosphere as its Inverness and Elgin branches”.

Guests are greeted with a free coffee – or a drink from the on-site bar – as they discuss their vacation plans, in a environment which looks more like a luxury VIP lounge than a traditional travel agency.

Murray Travel was established in 2014 by husband and wife team Scott and Sarah Murray, who added to their portfolio in 2021 with the takeover of local agencies Alba Travel and Beaver Travel. Mr and Mrs Murray also co-founded Wanderluxe, a work-from-home agency based in Sawbridgeworth, and Mr Murray is a director of hotel group Cru Holdings.

RANGERS fans have been promised a new range of food and drink as part of a new deal announced today.

Levy UK+I, the sports and entertainment division of Compass Group UK and Ireland, has entered into a new commercial partnership with Rangers FC to deliver “the best matchday food and drink experiences at Ibrox Stadium”.

Edinburgh City Council has agreed a 25-year lease with M&G and the investment giant’s property development partner, Qmile Group, for a 349-room Hyatt Centric hotel in Edinburgh’s Haymarket.

M&G said the seven-story hotel would be the first Hyatt Centric – which it said was the hotel group’s “range of modern boutique hotels located in the heart of some of the world’s most visited cities” – in Scotland .
