Destination Tobago takes stakeholder team to global travel market

A multi-disciplinary team of tourism stakeholders will represent Destination Tobago at next week’s World Travel Market (WTM) – the travel industry’s premier international event – from November 7-9, 2022.

An official statement from the Tobago Tourism Agency Limited (TTAL) says the agency is making its WTM return in collaboration with Tobago’s private and public sector stakeholders and Tourism Trinidad Limited.

This year’s edition of the World Travel Market (WTM) will take place at the Excel Exhibition Center in London.

The Destination Tobago delegation will join nearly 50,000 travel industry professionals, ministers and international media to network, negotiate and learn about the latest industry trends and opinions.

According to TTAL, the WTM has consistently proven to be a superior forum where Tobago’s tourism stakeholders can assess the destination’s competitive position against other global destinations. It also gives the island’s tourism representatives the opportunity to negotiate new marketing contracts, engage in high-level public relations activities and provide destination updates to international trade and the media. through interviews and a press conference at the stand.

TTAL Executive Chair Alicia Edwards says this year’s WTM is significant as Tobago’s last participation was in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic began.

“WTM 2022 marks a significant return to the Tobago destination forum and provides an opportunity for us, the Agency and Tobago government leaders, to re-establish contact with UK travel partners and gather feedback. market information regarding changes and new trends in our key source markets,” said Ms. Edwards.

“We are thrilled to return to this important business event with a renewed focus, a relaunched product and a return to the roots of what makes our little island truly stand out,” she added.

The Executive Chairman of TTAL also noted that 2022 marks the first time that Tourism Trinidad Limited will partner with TTAL to attend.

“We are honored to facilitate Tourism Trinidad Limited’s participation in this year’s WTM at the Tobago stand,” she said, “and we are delighted at the opportunity for continued collaboration with our sister island, so that we jointly seek to develop Trinidad and Tobago’s entire tourism industry development.”

Chief Secretary Farley Augustine leads the Tobago delegation to the WTM, which includes Councilor Tashia Burris, Secretary of Tourism, Culture and Antiquities and Transportation; as well as representatives from the Tobago Performing Arts Company, the Tobago Hotel and Tourism Association and various private sector actors.
