Emirates News Agency – Mohammed bin Rashid visits Arab Travel Market 2022
DUBAI, 10th May, 2022 (WAM) — The Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has said that the UAE is committed to accelerating the development and expansion of the sectors vital to the country. As part of its ambitious development vision, the United Arab Emirates has made remarkable progress in the tourism and aviation sectors over the past 50 years, which has enabled the country to transform into one of the world leaders in these major industries, said His Highness.
“We are constantly working with our partners to strengthen the growth of the tourism and travel sectors locally, regionally and internationally. The UAE plays a unique role on the world stage as a country that connects the markets of the East and West. Our unique strengths position us well to play an influential role in opening new horizons of growth for these sectors globally and creating new opportunities for the global economy. We are optimistic about in the future and confident in our ability to meet the challenges and keep pace with global transformations.”

His Highness’ remarks came as he visited the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2022, which is currently being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The event, which ends on Thursday May 12, brings together 1,500 exhibitors representing 158 countries and is expected to attract 20,000 visitors.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Governor of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.
During the tour, His Highness toured the exhibition area and learned about this year’s event, which saw an 85% increase in floor space compared to the previous edition.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed visited various pavilions and stands of participating countries which converged on Dubai to promote their tourist destinations.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed was also accompanied on the tour by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports and Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group ; His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council; and Helal Al Marri, Director General of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).
Held at the Dubai World Trade Center in conjunction with DET, ATM 2022’s theme – “The Future of International Travel and Tourism” – will be reflected throughout the show. The ATM Global Stage and ATM Travel Tech Stage will host 40 conference sessions featuring 150 speakers.
New this year is the Draper-Aladdin ATM Startup Contest, which has generated huge buzz since its launch. The initiative will see up to 15 travel, tourism and hospitality innovators for up to $500,000 in funding – not to mention the chance to compete for an additional $500,000 investment in the part of the hit TV show, Meet the Drapers.
Additionally, ATM 2022 will feature in-depth buyer forums dedicated to India and Saudi Arabia; live interviews with aviation and hospitality experts; debates on the future of sports, urban and responsible tourism; the ITIC-ATM Middle East Summit on Tourism Investment; digital influencer networking; best stand award; and the return of ILTM Arabia, which focuses on the lucrative luxury travel market.
ATM 2022 is part of Arabian Travel Week, a 10-day festival of travel and tourism events taking place in Dubai.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Dubai World Trade Center and its strategic partners, including the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), the destination partner; Emirates, the Official Airline Partner; and Emaar Hospitality Group, the official hotel partner.
