FCM taps into Japan’s business travel market

SINGAPORE, June 2, 2022: FCM, a global leader in travel management, has established a new dedicated office in Tokyo to bolster the company’s Asian capabilities.

While FCM has already supported its portfolio of large domestic and multinational clients through partnerships with Japanese agencies, this investment in a direct-to-market strategy means that clients continue to benefit from the company’s commitment to new technologies, including FCM’s revolutionary platform.

FCM’s Managing Director for Asia, Bertrand Saillet, said the decision to expand into Japan was driven by “changing customer needs while recognizing the tremendous business development opportunities the country offers.” .

“Japan is an exciting and dynamic market for business travel. We are seeing strong demand from existing customers, but prospects across Asia are also expressing strong interest in TMC support. To exploit the growth potential and capitalize on this trajectory, we are pleased to have consolidated our presence while integrating a host of local talent into our Japanese team,” said Saillet.

As FCM operates and owns the office in Japan, customers will benefit from additional investment and new solutions designed for the local market, supported by the company’s signature flexibility and consistent user experience through platform access. – FCM global shape.

Kenichi Shiraishi leads the office as General Manager, Japan.

Japan is the world’s fourth largest business travel market; however, FCM’s research shows that there is still a long way to go for business development. Less than 15% of Japanese companies currently use TMCs, with business travel mostly handled in-house.

Of the 818 Japanese travel managers currently not working with a TMC, 88% indicated an urgent need to digitize business travel arrangements. It also emphasized risk management, with 81% believing that business travel would be easier and safer using a qualified agency designated by the company.
