First National Bank’s Travel Club, First Adventurers Visit Alaska – The Post-Searchlight

Members of First National Bank’s First Adventurers Travel Club recently enjoyed a Northern Lights tour in Alaska. The tour started in Fairbank, Alaska including Fountainhead Auto Museum, Alyeska Pipeline, Dog Sled Rides, Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitor Center, World Ice Art Championship, and a few enjoyed a quick ride by motor plane to the Arctic Circle. The group then traveled by Alaska Railroad to Talkeetna, Alaska for one night and then to Palmer, Alaska. The tour ended with a visit to Prince William Sound to see the majestic Beloit Glacier and a farewell dinner before leaving Anchorage, Alaska for home.

“What a great trip with great people,” said Lorenda Smith, senior vice president and chief retail and marketing officer for First National Bank. “Every day, I would say, has been my favorite activity. However, the next day the activity seemed to overtake her. I sincerely believe that the dog sled ride was the perfect way to start this adventure. No one had ever done this before; you could hear the squeals of laughter as each pair started with their team of dogs and mushers. The train ride from Fairbanks to Talkeetna was like traveling through the desert. We saw beautiful snow capped mountains, frozen lakes, rivers and wildlife. We would occasionally see houses covered in snow and wonder if anyone lived there. But then the train would stop and pick up a few people for what we think could be a day trip to gather supplies.

“With all the beauty we saw, the wonderful time we spent together sharing stories about our families was my favorite. I am confident that friendships were formed that will last long after the trip,” Smith concluded.

Upcoming Frist National Bank First Adventurers trips include an All Ladies Chicago trip June 29-July 2, Outbank, North Carolina, October 2-7, 2022, and Christmas at Biltmore House, December 4-7, 2022; For more information on upcoming trips, contact Lorenda Smith at 229-246-3131 or visit https://fnbdc.com/first-adventurers-travel-club.
