MakeMyTrip and Amazon Pay Form Strategic Partnership to Offer Travel Services
Amazon Pay, the digital payments arm of the e-commerce giant and MakeMyTrip India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MakeMyTrip Limited (MMYT), India’s leading travel group, announced a long-term strategic partnership to deliver travel services on Amazon. includes its suite of mobile apps and websites. The partnership will help Amazon Pay create a convenient experience and deliver greater value to its customers with access to the best travel deals from MakeMyTrip.

Through this partnership, MakeMyTrip will be able to further expand its distribution through Amazon Pay’s large customer base, particularly in small towns and villages, and accelerate online booking of travel services through the country.

Amazon Pay aims to make the booking and travel experience easier for customers, extending the convenience of online transactions from anywhere to anyone instantly. With Amazon Pay ICICI, customers of co-branded credit cards will earn unlimited cash back on every flight, hotel or bus reservation and with Amazon Pay Later, customers will be able to book tickets and pay next month without interest. Customers can also use various payment methods on Amazon Pay including Amazon Pay Balance and Amazon Pay UPI to make their payments frictionless. Booking of bus services through Redbus is already live on Amazon.in and other travel services powered by MakeMyTrip will go live in the coming months.
In 2019, Amazon.in announced the launch of domestic flight bookings. Customers could find the flights icon on the Amazon Pay page of the Amazon mobile app and on the website. The company said that with just a few simple steps, customers can complete their flight reservations and receive rewards. The firm said that delighted with the shopping experience, there was an increasing demand from customers for more services offered by Amazon. This launch allows customers to book their domestic airline tickets in addition to shopping, money transfers, utility bill payments, mobile top-ups – all in one app.
Amazon Pay’s partnership with MakeMyTrip comes at a time when the Adani Group recently invested in Cleartrip, deepening strategic ties with Flipkart. The fastest growing diversified Indian conglomerate Adani Group recently announced that it is investing in Cleartrip Private Limited, an online travel aggregator (OTA) and part of e-commerce company Flipkart Group. As part of this investment, the Adani Group will acquire a significant minority stake in Cleartrip. Through this investment, Adani Group and Flipkart Group will benefit from synergies that will deliver superior travel experiences to consumers as the travel industry in India experiences a resurgence.
