New World Guide – Tips and Tricks, How to Access Corrupted Expeditions and Invasions, and Attribute Bonuses

New world has five main attributes that players can increase with each level. These are strength, dexterity, intelligence, focus and build. Attribute points are also awarded per gear, which becomes important once you’ve reached max level and can’t earn any more. Weapons adapt to certain attributes, some gaining increased damage based on a single attribute, while others can adapt to a primary and secondary attribute. Choosing the right weapon depends on which attribute you want to focus on as well as which activity (fishing, skinning, etc.) is most appealing.

But the real customization of the build comes from reaching certain thresholds with attributes. Let’s take a look at all the bonuses they offer as well as the weapons that evolve with them, starting with Dexterity. Dexterity serves as a unique attribute for arches; a main attribute for rapiers, muskets and spears; and a secondary attribute for axes and swords. Here are all of his threshold bonuses:

  • 50 Dexterity – Five percent increased critical strike chance and a 10 percent increase in skinning speed.
  • 100 Dexterity – Five percent increase in pushing damage. Additionally, after skinning, gain 20% increased haste for three seconds.
  • 150 Dexterity – Dodge costs 10 stamina points less. The weight of skinned items is also reduced by 10 percent.
  • 200 Dexterity – 10% increased damage from backstab and head stabs. The butchering speed also increased by 10 percent.
  • 250 Dexterity – Increased additional critical damage by 10% on Stunned, Slowed, or Rooted enemies. The return on the count is also increased by 10 percent.
  • 300 Dexterity – After a dodge roll, inflicts a guaranteed critical hit (occurs once every 10 seconds). Ammo also has a 15% chance of being refunded.

Then comes the Force. As you would expect, many melee weapons benefit from an increase in strength. The scale of strength of the great ax and the battle hammer alone; the Hatchet and the Sword use it as their main attribute; and the Lance uses it as a secondary attribute. Its threshold bonuses are:

  • 50 Strength – Five percent more damage with light melee attacks. The extraction speed is also increased by 10 percent.
  • Strength 100 – Increases congestion by 20, and also deals 10% more damage with heavy melee attacks.
  • 150 Strength – The weight of mined items has been reduced by 10 percent. 50 percent increased stamina damage from light and heavy melee attacks.
  • 200 Strength – Stunned, Slowed, or Rooted enemies take 10% increased damage. The extraction speed is increased by 10 percent.
  • Strength 250 – Faster stamina regeneration after melee attacks and mining yield increased by 10%.
  • 300 Strength – Melee attacks gain Grit, briefly preventing attack interruptions. A white aura becomes visible when Grit is in effect. Also gain an additional 25% chance to mine with a single hit.

Focus is an interesting attribute because it only increases damage for one type of weapon: the Life Staff. Its threshold bonuses are:

  • 50 Focus – Mana regeneration rate is increased by 10 percent. The tension of the fishing lines is also increased by 10 percent.
  • 100 Concentration – Gains +20 mana. The recovery efficiency is increased by 10 percent.
  • 150 Focus – 20 percent increase in healing power. Fish transport weight reduced by 10 percent.
  • 200 Focus – The duration of buffs the player casts is increased by 20 percent increased. 10 percent increased fishing line tension.
  • 250 Focus – Gain +30 mana when the player or party succeeds in a kill. The size of the fish caught increased by 10 percent.
  • 300 Focus – At zero mana, gain 200 percent mana regeneration for 10 seconds (with a 60 second cooldown on the same). The Inn’s Fast Travel cooldown is also reduced by 10%.

Next is Intelligence which is a unique scale attribute for the Fire Staff and Ice Gauntlet, and a secondary attribute for Rapier and Musket. Its bonuses are:

  • 50 Intelligence – 10% increased damage to light and heavy attacks with magic. Harvesting speed is also increased by 10 percent.
  • 100 Intelligence – Critical damage increased by 10%. Chances of gaining an Azoth while harvesting are increased by five percent.
  • 150 Intellect – Elemental damage increased by 15%. 10 percent reduced weight of harvested items.
  • 200 Intelligence – Gain +10 mana after dodging. Harvesting speed is also increased by 10 percent.
  • 250 Intelligence – Damage over time duration increased by 30%. 10 percent increase in crop yield.
  • 300 Intelligence – Gain 30% more damage on the first hit on a target in full health. 10% reduction in Azoth’s Fast Travel Fee.

Finally, we have the Constitution. It doesn’t affect weapon damage, but is related to your overall health and damage resistance. Its thresholds are as follows:

  • 50 Constitution – All health consumables are 20% more powerful and recording speed is increased by 10%.
  • 100 Constitution – Maximum health increased by 10 percent of total physical armor. Tool durability loss is reduced by 10 percent.
  • 150 Constitution – 10% reduction in critical damage taken. Weight of log items reduced by 10 percent.
  • 200 Constitution – Increases armor by 20%. The recording speed has also increased by 10 percent.
  • 250 Constitution – You gain 80% damage reduction while at full health (with a 60 second cooldown) and 10% increase in logging yield.
  • 300 Constitution – Gain +20 duration for spells that inflict stun, slow, and immobilize statuses. 25% increased chance to fell a tree in one fell swoop.

How to access the expeditions

Expeditions are one of the main endgame activities in New world, and are similar to the dungeons of other MMOs. However, the process to access it is not very straightforward. First of all, you need to complete the main story quest “Destiny Unarthed”. This opens the first expedition, Amrine Excavation. You will then need specific tuning orbs for each expedition which must be crafted or earned from quests. Let’s take a look at all of the Expeditions along with their recommended levels:

  • Amrine Excavation – Requires level +25. Located in Windsward and accessible with an Amrine Tuning Orb.
  • Starstone Barrows – Requires level +35. Located in Everfall and accessible with a Starstone Tuning Orb.
  • The Depths – Requires level +45. Located at Restless Shores and requires Depths Tuning Orb.
  • Dynasty Shipyard – Requires level +51 and located in Ebonscale Reach. Requires Dynasty Tuning Orb to access it.
  • Lazarus Instrumentality – Requires level +60 and located in Reekwater. Requires Lazarus Tuning Orb to access it.
  • Garden of Genesis – Requires level +60. Located in Edengrove and requires Genesis Tuning Orb.

Expeditions should be approached with a party of five players with at least one healer, tank, and DPS required. These can be located with the Party Finder or created while partying with friends. Fortunately, only one player is needed to have a Tuning Orb so that the whole group can access the instance. In terms of rewards, players can get good weapons and trinkets appropriate to their level, as well as rare crafting materials, EXP, and gold.

How to play corrupt invasions

As the influence of a faction and the colony grows stronger in a captured territory, the corrupt begin to notice it. Eventually, they will invade, swarming forts with players in large numbers as part of the Corrupt Invasions. This happens approximately every four days with up to 50 players able to participate (registrations start 24 hours in advance). The governor is then responsible for selecting up to 10 players for the battlefields.

Once the invasion begins, the player will teleport to a fort and can use Battle Tokens to purchase supplies such as ammo, siege weapons, potions, and more. Additional Tokens are earned by killing Corrupted, repairing damaged defenses or siege weapons, and assisting allies. The invasions last for eight waves with different objectives, but your main objective is to prevent the corrupted from entering the fort.

Completing a Corrupted Invasion will reward Azoth, Materials, XP, and Loot. Keep in mind that this is a +50 level activity, so don’t go waltzing into a sublevel. Also, as a governor, be sure to prioritize the different fort defense projects – the quality of defenses in an invasion will be based on the same.

Tips and tricks

Finally, there are a few things to keep in mind when playing games. The camp is very useful and provides a spawn point if you get downed while exploring the world. This saves a lot of time since you don’t have to respawn in a colony. The camp can be upgraded after obtaining and completing a quest at level 15 that provides more crafting recipes. Speaking of which, always make sure to eat food for health, damage, and mana regeneration benefits. It’s a pretty common thing in MMOs, but it’s worth remembering.

Always prioritize buffs from captured regions and territories as needed. For example, regions that provide an XP boost are pretty useless late in the game when you’ve reached max level while reducing Azoth spent on traveling, gaining speed, etc. is more preferable. Check out our full guide to Buffs for Captured Regions here.

When it comes to harvesting tools, always craft basic iron tools instead of buying them. Occasionally check the Auction House for blue tools and collect them if they have any decent perks. Some crafting resources can only be founded in certain types of environments. All of this information is specified on the card, so keep checking it as needed. Always collect crates whenever possible, as you will never have enough resources for crafting.

As well as making sure your weapon is properly adjusting to your best attribute, keep an eye on the stats for additional damage dealt to specific enemy types. This will ensure the maximum amount of DPS in the most important activities. Plus, when you’re stuck with excess armor and weapons, collect them for spares and other resources instead of removing or selling them.
