News Corp’s Escape is on the hunt for Australia’s best travel agency – Travel Weekly

News Corp Australia’s travel publication, Escape, has partnered with the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) to promote its Australian Travel Accreditation Scheme (ATAS) accredited agency with a nationwide competition.

The competition, which is now live on the Escape website, asks readers to nominate their favorite ATAS accredited travel agency to win some of the following prizes:

  • Two return economy class tickets on Singapore Airlines (SIA) for travel from any Australian city served by Singapore Airlines to any European or UK city served by Singapore Airlines.
  • Avalon Waterways – Active and Discovery River Cruise on the Rhône for Two People to travel in the Panorama Suites.
  • Win a cruise for you and a guest on Royal Caribbean.
  • 2 x 2 Virgin Australia Economy, return flights anywhere on the Virgin Australia network.

The winner of the nationwide competition on Escape.com.au and the Escape Sunday elevator to find Australia’s favorite travel agency will be announced at AFTA’s National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA) on October 15.

“News Corp Australia has long been a strong supporter of the Australian travel industry and in particular since March 2020, where its editorial, including in local community mastheads, helped shine a light on the immense pressures travel professionals face. Australian travel professionals were facing as we supported Australian travelers impacted by COVID travel and cancellations,” said AFTA CEO Dean Long.

“AFTA and the Australian travel industry are delighted and extremely grateful for News Corp Australia’s continued support, including now that we are rebuilding.

“As more Australians start to travel again, we need to promote the importance of choosing ATAS accredited travel companies.”

“A big thank you to our main sponsor NTIA Singapore Airlines and Avalon Waterways, Royal Caribbean and Virgin Australia for supporting this great initiative.”

Kerrie McCallum, Managing Editor of Escape, added: “As travel begins to rebound and we navigate the world in an entirely new way, travel agents have come back to the fore.

“Many helped repatriate travelers when the pandemic hit and spent months seeking credit for their clients as business stalled. It’s a tough road to recovery, however, we’re really excited to partner with the Federation of Australian Travel Agents (AFTA) to help find Australia’s best travel agency.
