“From what I heard, there were a few girls creating chaos on Main Street,” said company owner Aldred Griffin.
Placerville police said Theodora Economou and Vivian Bertrand, both 22, were walking the main street with a knife and ax hitting the windows of businesses. Police said two passers-by, a man and a woman, asked them to stop and the suspects allegedly attacked them both.
“All the celebration that’s supposed to be for the kids and for the families to be able to go out and then it just makes the parents feel in danger and people don’t want to be on the streets,” said Katie Draper, a resident of Placerville.
Aldred Griffin owns the Placerville Public House. He was working when he saw Economou being pulled out of Hangtown Creek near El Dorado Savings Bank after fleeing from police while wearing a Halloween costume.

“We saw a lady, a young woman, being climbed on the ladder and handcuffed,” he explained.
It was a violent end for two good Samaritans trying to protect Placerville.
“People are going to be worried about stepping in and doing the right thing because then they’re going to be worried that people will attack them,” Draper said.
The man received cuts on her hand, according to police, and the woman received cuts to her face. According to a GoFundMe page created for her, she could lose one eye due to her injuries.
