* UPDATE * Delaware State Police Investigating Fatal Crash – Harrington – Delaware State Police
Harrington, DE- Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision on Monday afternoon north of Harrington.
At approximately 1:28 p.m. on October 11, 2021, a 47-year-old Harrington woman was driving a 2009 Dodge Charger southbound on the South DuPont Highway (US 13) south of Paradise Alley Road. The operator deviated from the western edge of the roadway, attempted to regain control and returned to the right lane. As a result, the vehicle began to roll clockwise and left the western edge of the roadway for a short distance before colliding with a Verizon utility pole with the left front fender. After hitting the pole, the Charger spins counterclockwise and flips onto its roof before coming to a stop in a private driveway.
The operator was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identification is pending notification to the next of kin.
The roadway was closed for approximately 2.5 hours while the accident was investigated and the roadway cleared.
This collision is still under investigation by the Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit.
